Secondary Programs

We support both parent-led and student-led 6 – 12 grade programs. Explore how you, and your student, can become involved.
  • GCSAPP Registration

Choice Pass registration and Sign-up Nights are just around the corner! Registration will open on 9/1/22 and close on 10/20/22.

  • Cafeteria Volunteers

Our cafeteria is back open but still short-staffed. We have shifts in Elementary and Secondary lunch hours that need to be filled daily. This is the best way to help our school at this time.

Grade Parents

At the heart of the PTA are our Grade Parents, connecting Parents with Teachers and families with each other. (In Secondary School, students have multiple teachers, so we rely on “Grade Parents” instead of “Room Parents,” as we did in the Elementary programs.) Grade Parents are the liaison between the PTA Leadership Team and each family unit in their grade. They help recruit volunteers, foster social connections and parent engagement, and support student-led initiatives. They share information that parents need to know. And they help with Teacher Appreciation, such as collecting contributions for teacher (and support staff) holiday and year-end gifts. They also support PTA fundraising efforts, especially those that are specific to their grade (such as After-Prom). Grade Parents must attend at least one PTA meeting per month. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us.

After Prom

After-Prom is led by parent volunteers and funded through the PTA. This event provides a safe, inclusive, alcohol and drug-free alternative for our high school students at a very special and important time in their lives. The event is a huge success with nearly 100% of the prom attendees joining in the after prom fun. After-Prom features blackjack and roulette tables, laser tag, silent disco, team games and competitions, pizza, snacks, breakfast and incredible prizes! Attendees receive a team t-shirt and the chance to win amazing prizes donated by our local businesses and families.

Student-Led Projects

The PTA supports student-led projects with both funding and communications/marketing. Recent examples included the school-wide water bottle filters, implemented by the National Honor Society Sustainability Committee.

HS Awards Breakfast

The PTA provides volunteers and funding to support the annual High School Awards Breakfast, which honors students who have received academic or athletic awards, honors, and scholarships.

Student Scholarships

The PTA offers the Rachel Scott Kindness Scholarship to a graduating senior who best exemplifies the following ideals: kindness; compassion; honesty; high moral standards; someone who looks for the best in people; someone who is a positive influence on the school community; someone who goes out of their way to help others. This one-time, $1,000 scholarship is to be used at a 2 or 4 year College or Training Program beginning the following year of High School Graduation

Special Projects

Over the years, the PTA has provided significant funding to launch innovative programs that enrich students’ experiences and/or provide unique learning opportunuties.  Programs include:

Enabling students in Todd Wasinger’s Applied Architecture class to design and draft a home.  Working with local architects and contractors, students get to copmplete a home-building project from beginning to end.  See more about one of their projects: View.

Sponsoring equipment for the Weight Room, which creates an appealing space for students to pursue healthy choices and afterschool alternatives.
