Fall 2020:

Dear PTA Members,

The Colorado PTA has long been advocating for full, equitable, and sustainable funding for all schools, based on our resolution stating:

Colorado PTA:
  • Acknowledges funding shortages under the current School Finance Act, and declares support for increasing revenue for public school funding through a tax increase.
  • Urges the state legislature to take immediate steps to rebuild a public school funding base by raising taxes and to develop long-term solution to resolve the funding crisis.
  • Urges PTA involvement with the Coalition for Schools and other such groups.

We know that school funding in Colorado is not a problem that arose, or will be solved, quickly.  It will take all of our collective voice to make a difference for our kids.

For that reason, we ask that you give your input and be a part of determining a solution for Colorado school funding.  PTA is working with other stakeholders in Colorado to bring forward a ballot initiative to fix or eliminate TABOR and to look at an equitable tax structure to help fund our schools.  This problem is not going away without action. Complete this survey to share what is important to you and what you would like to see on the ballot.  For more information, join the Vision 2020 Info Hour every Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Thank your for your time and your support addressing this critical issue.

Sincerely,

Nora Brown
Colorado PTA President
